Crossroads (Beautiful Biker MC Romance Series) - DD Prince Page 0,66

about the loss before thinking about anything else. It was also thinking about the betrayal, the what ifs.

What if we’d had sex. Would he have still been with Kailey? What if he’d been willing to go public about his feelings for me? Or what if he really didn’t have anything deeper other than those brotherly feelings and it’d all been my imagination that he was the one?

I blew out a breath. It was too late to stop the calendar. And I didn’t want to spend my time basking in my regrets risking the chance I’d wind up bitter like my mother.

Was Mom bitter because she lost her biker, Danny Spencer? Was she bitter because Dad carried a torch for Laura even though he married her? Was I doomed to become bitter, too?

One day, my actual prince would come. I firmly believed it. Hopefully he’d ride in on a Harley. Or, maybe I’d been lookin’ for love in all the wrong places. Maybe it was time to set my sights on someone who preferred to drive on four wheels.

I turned over, closed my eyes, and finally sleep took me.

“Let’s just fuckin’ go.”

“We know the Valentine princess’s bike, Chrissy. She’s coming with.”

“Fuck, man. You’re fuckin’ me up, showin’ here,” Fork said.

“Nope. No fuckin’ way we miss this opportunity to stick it to ‘em. You’re tappin’ that, aren’t ya?”

I sat up. Who was Christian talking to? I’d heard two different voices besides his.

“Shit,” Christian said.

My eyes boinged.

“You been holdin’ out, brother. Which we suspected. Whose place is this? Sweet crib.”

“Shh. Shut up. She’s sleepin’. Of course I’m tappin’ her. She’s got intel, insider info, plus she’s a sweet piece. They let me in but I’m still on the outside. Now get the fuck outta here or you’ll wake her up and fuck up my long game.”

The voices were not even trying to be quiet. The room was bright. I glanced at my phone, which was in bed beside me. Seven thirty in the morning.

I quickly grabbed for clothes, so that I’d be ready for anything, noting absently that I’d lost a Pom Pom from one of my socks as I took both socks off.

“I gotta make a call,” a voice said and I heard heavy footfalls receding. “We’ll see what Sarge says.”

My doorknob jiggled and I bristled. I’d locked it at bedtime. Then it burst open with the strength of his big shoulder and Fork stood there with a look of sheer panic on his face just as I was pulling my jeans up over my underwear. I zipped up and looked at his face as I buttoned. His expression made my scalp prickle. He’d obviously been asleep when they got here. He was barefoot, bare-chested.

“Follow my lead, go with it. Trust me,” he whispered, grabbing my phone and sticking it under the pillow on the bed.

Before I got a chance to open my mouth to speak, he said, “Wait. Shh.”

He moved back to his room and then he was back, tossing his boots to the floor and throwing his brotherhood cut on the floor beside my bed. He dropped his wallet and keys on my nightstand and then rushed to my dresser and opened my top drawer, my underwear drawer, and scooped all my framed photos from the top of the dresser in there before slamming it shut. He sat on the end of my bed and started pulling his socks on.

“What the fuck?” I whispered, eyes taking in all he’d just done to make it look like he’d spent the night in here.

He grabbed my hand and tugged me forward until I landed in his lap, giving me a pleading look as he whispered against my cheekbone.

“Trust me. Roll with it. Follow my lead so you don’t get hurt. Use your head. Think like you’re your brothers ‘n your dad, here, okay? All part of a bigger plan, princess.”

I frowned. I heard footsteps coming at us again.

This was not good.

Two men moved into view in my doorway, eyeballing me in his lap with smug looks on their faces.

“She’s comin’. Sarge insists.”

“Fuckin’ bullshit,” Fork grumbled, sticking his right foot into his boot.

“Leave that piece of shit here or you’ll piss people off.” The older of the two gestured to his brotherhood cut on the floor.

My scalp prickled.

I tried to get up, but his arm went across my chest, his hand holding my shoulder, keeping me where I was.

“Don’t be mad, baby,” he said into my hair and planted a kiss on my
