went back the way he came.

“It might take him a bit,” I chuckled.

Christian smirked. “Glad I’m no longer a prospect. Though I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t give me a coupla dirty jobs, despite it.”

I stuck my key in my door and he pushed it open. Marshmallow was standing at Christian’s old door, next door.

“In here, baby cat!” I called and she ran to us.

“Kitty stealer,” I grumbled. Christian laughed and got into bed with both of us.

Saturday

We were summoned to Deke’s Roadhouse by text from Ella at six o’clock sharp.

I was sweeping blush across my cheekbone. I’d chosen my polka dot black dress and red high heels, which got him looking devilishly at me with loaded promise in the whispered word “later”. Shivers trilled up my spine.

My man was doing up his very nice blue button-down shirt. He threw his cut on as well and stood behind me as I finished with the blush, smiling at my reflection. I leaned back against his body and his arms circled me.

“Mine,” he whispered.

My face split into a smile and I held onto his forearms. “Completely,” I agreed.

“Let’s go do this so we can get back up here. I got plans for all these polka dots.”

I wiggled my eyebrows and then spun to face him. I looked up and puckered.

“Gonna let me smear this hot as fuck lipstick so you gotta start over?”

“Nope. Smear-proof. Lay one on me.” I tilted my head back some more.

His soft lips came to mine. I thrust my hands into his hair.

“I love you so much, Christian Forker.”

“Love you too, Jojo Forker. Let’s go.”

The night before, in bed in the dark, he told me he never would’ve thought it’d mean anything to him to have a wife who had his last name, but that it meant something to him that I was taking Forker. The sweetness in his voice when he told me that got my eyes all leaky.

Not only did our reception include the whole Aberdeen chapter, a chunk of the Sioux Falls chapter, and half of the family from Colorado, but also Christian’s mom, brother, his brother’s fiancée, and as a surprise, Jolene told me just the day before that Christian’s Uncle Stu was coming, too.

It’d been a busy week house-hunting and dealing with the contractor for the final touches on the new clubhouse.

No luck yet on the house hunting, we’d seen three houses and I hadn’t felt a connection with any of them, but things with the clubhouse were coming along nicely.

That afternoon, before going up to get ready for our party, I’d done another walkthrough of the new clubhouse with Dad. It was about 90% done in the most important areas and close to ready to be moved into. We had the main hall, which had a Viking hall crossed with a Great Wolf Lodge feel to it with a long bar and lots of comfortable furniture in it. Behind the open hall was the closed conference room for ‘church’ as well as a big shared office for the club president (Dad), VP (Blow), and secretary/treasurer (Deacon). The basement had a gymnasium that would double as a banquet room/bar special events with an industrial kitchen. We had guest rooms down there, too. Upstairs were all the members’ rooms and two different kitchenettes for those who lived there to use. One side also had Dad’s apartment. You could look down on the great hall from a balcony that circled the perimeter. We had a few outbuildings and room to add guest bunkies as well as an area where RVs could be set up. We had plans for a basketball court, horseshoe pits, picnicking area, playground, and we had a skatepark that was still in progress.

We were also going to add more for families, including a pool and splashpad. The whole thing had high privacy fencing with a gate that led to the back of the Roadhouse. We were thrilled with the outcome. It felt like a resort, especially compared to living above the bar the past little while. When we were all moved, the upstairs area above Deke’s Roadhouse would be split into banquet facilities for rent as well as rooms for visiting nomads, prospects, and friends of the club to use just like the guest wing at the Sioux Falls clubhouse.

Dad had lamented on what to do about the apartment because a lot had changed between the time we planned it and now. I wasn’t going to live there long what with me
