Coyote (Hawks MC Next Generation #1) - Lila Rose Page 0,78

I stated clearly.

“You did. You wore her down enough to get sick. Found out all about it. Found out you stupidly moved back to town and opened that damn bakery like nothing happened.” He pressed the gun in harder. “You took her from me.”

Fury had me blurting, “You made her leave by raising a hand to us.”

“No!” he bellowed, knocking the gun into my head. “You. It was all you. You annoyed me, and she wouldn’t listen when it came to you. I wanted to send you off so we could be together. She wouldn’t listen. You took her from me. You!” he screamed, and then in the next second, he was laughing. “But you were stupid enough to move back to town. I would have let you go if I hadn’t been told you were here living your life in a happy fucking bubble after you killed your mum.”

He’d wanted to get rid of me.

He’d wanted to send me off and Mum refused.

Mum protected me and got his rage for it.

“We weren’t far,” I told him, to rile him, to show him how blind, how selfish, how pathetic he was.

“What?” he barked.

I smirked. “If you’d looked, you would have found her. We’d only moved out a little. We were still close.”

“Bullshit,” he bit out, hitting me again with the gun.

“I’m not. But you didn’t look. You sunk lower and fell into your pity party.” I laughed without humour. “Who’s the stupid one now?”

“Shut up,” he screeched and grabbed my upper arm to haul me through the kitchen and in the living room.

“No,” I uttered, pressing my hands to my stomach, but nothing would settle it. Cody, my Cody, was tied to a chair, unconscious. Blood seeped from cuts on his chest, and a woman I didn’t know stood behind him, holding a knife to his throat, smiling sadistically.

Two to one.

I could still take them both on, but I didn’t like the thought of this bitch being so close to Cody with a weapon. I had to get her away first.

“Finally. I thought you two would dribble on and on forever,” she complained in a shrill voice. She ran her free hand up and down over Cody’s chest. I wanted to rip it off. I wanted to punch her, kick her, and make her pay for touching him.

My upper lip rose. “What’s this?” I asked. “Who are you?”

She cackled. “I’m his.” She patted Cody’s chest.

I shook my head. “What?”

She rolled her eyes. “Can we get on with this?”

“Right.” Percy nodded.

The woman squealed, walked around Cody, and tapped his face. “Wakey, wakey, baby.” Cody made a noise but didn’t open his eyes as his head dropped back. I took a step forward but stopped when she grabbed his hair on the top of his head and straightened him. “Come on, baby. I didn’t hit you that hard with the pan. Wake up for me.” She tapped his cheek again and again.

“Stop,” I demanded and tried to shake Percy’s hold off, but the dickhead’s fingers bit into my arm tighter.

Percy knocked me in the back of the head with the gun. “You move and I’ll kill you,” he stated before dropping his hold and stalking over to the woman and Cody.

I inched forward a little until Percy stepped up behind Cody and pushed the gun to the back of his head. Dread seeped in, but I forced it away. I needed them my way. I had to get them away from Cody. Get the gun and force them to surrender. If they didn’t… I would do what I had to, even if that thought put a foul taste in my mouth.

“Hey,” the woman complained. “Put it on her, not my man. He’s mine after all this.”

Who was this woman?

Percy grunted and held the gun over Cody’s head at me while he used his other hand to shake Cody. “Wake the hell up. I want this done.”

Cody groaned. His eyes fluttered. “What the fuck?” he uttered.

“Hi, baby,” the woman cooed, running her hand over his head. “Don’t you worry about a thing, I’m here for you.”

“Fuck off, Genny,” Cody snarled. He groaned. “You hit me on the fuckin’ head.”

“Oh, baby, I had to, or you would have ruined everything. But now it’s all good and we can be together.”

Cody laughed, but it was a harsh bark that held no humour. “You stupid cunt. I have a woman.”

Genny stomped her foot and shrilled, “No, no, no.”

Dear God, this woman was unhinged, and she really
