to her family. “Mum, Dad, this is Dillon.”

Zara got closer, and Dillon thrust the second bunch out to her. “Thank you for having me, Mrs Marcus.”

“It’s a pleasure, Dillon, and so nice to meet you,” she replied, taking the flowers. I didn’t miss the way his hands shook.

Dillon stepped closer to Talon. “It’s nice to meet you, sir.”

Talon didn’t move or uncross his arms from his chest. He kept staring at Dillon with a glare. “Is it?”

“Ah… yes?”

“Huh.”

“Talon, take his hand now,” Zara snapped.

Talon did and shook it. From the slight wince Dillon showed, I knew the grip was tight. He tugged Dillon closer. “See those knives?” He nodded down to the table. Dear God, he wouldn’t threaten a child, would he?

Dillon shakily said, “Yes.”

“Good. Now, you know who I am?”

Dillon nodded.

“You know who Ruby’s older brother is?”

Dillon glanced back to Cody, who stood with his arms crossed, glaring at poor Dillon. He nodded and shifted his gaze back to Talon when he said, “And you know Ruby’s twin?”

“Yes.”

“Dad, stop it,” Ruby tried.

“Talon,” Zara warned.

Talon ignored them and went on. “All you gotta remember is that this family is a part of the Hawks MC. We know how to make a body bleed with those knives. We also know how to make a body disappear.”

Oh my God.

“O-Okay.”

“You gonna treat Ruby with respect, right?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Good.” He dropped Dillon’s hand and stepped back, curling his arm around a glaring Zara.

“We’ll be keepin’ an eye on you,” Cody added, and I reached over to smack him in the stomach.

“Yeah,” Drake piped in.

“Lord.” I sighed. “Stop freaking him out.” I shot my own glare at Cody, who smirked.

Zara clapped, gaining attention from all. “Channa is right. Leave Dillon alone, and let’s go and eat. Dinner is ready.”

“Since the kid was late,” Talon said, raising a brow at Dillon.

“Sorry, sir. Dad had to stop and get petrol on the way.”

“Why didn’t you leave a bit early to be on time?” Cody questioned.

Rolling my eyes, I shook my head at them all. “Dinner sounds amazing, Zara.”

“Yes, it does. Come on. All into the dining room.”

Ruby took Dillon’s hand, which all the Marcus men scowled at, but she pulled Dillon down the hall after her mum, and they whispered together along the way.

When all Marcus men looked to me, I took a step back. “What?”

Drake winked before he fled down the hall. Talon smiled and shook his head. “Welcome to the family, Channa.” He walked off after that.

I turned to a grinning Cody. “What?” I asked again.

“Angel.” He stepped up to me and hugged me close. “You fit in here perfectly.”

My heart expanded.

“Cody,” I whispered. He couldn’t say that; we hadn’t been together long.

He shook his head. “Nah, babe. You do, and I fuckin’ love it.” He dipped and took my mouth in a hard and heavy kiss that had me losing all thoughts. I just held on for the blissful ride.

“Mum, they’re busy pashin’,” Drake yelled from somewhere.

Groaning, I dropped my heated face to Cody’s chest, which shook from his laughter.

“Leave them at it, kid,” Talon yelled back.

“Dear God,” I complained.

Cody squeezed me to him. “You’ll get used to it all.”

Pulling back, I nodded and said with a smile, “I know.” Because I did. Already, even with the nerves, I admired the way their family clicked. How uncaring they were when they showed how much they loved and protected with every fibre, even in front of anyone. Yes, they could be a little over the top, but it was in an amusing, albeit scary way.

I wanted that. A family of my own like that, and I couldn’t help but think it would be amazing to have it with Cody.

Chapter Seventeen

Channa

We walked into the kitchen and caught Talon asking Dillon, “Do you want a beer, Dilbert?”

Ruby sighed and palmed her face. Dillon fidgeted and said, “It’s Dillon, sir, and no thank you. I’m not old enough.”

“You sure, Dilip?” Cody asked. “We let Drake have one in this house.”

“I can?” Drake asked, giving things away. I hid my smile in my shoulder. Drake cleared his throat and leaned back in the chair. “I mean, yeah, I am.”

“His name is Dillon,” Ruby said in a low, irritated voice.

Zara smacked Talon’s back after she dropped a tray of meat onto the table. He smirked up at her, and as I sat, I caught the sweet look they shared before his arm curled around her waist, and she bent to capture a quick kiss.

Drake gagged. “None of that at the table,
