Coyote (Hawks MC Next Generation #1) - Lila Rose Page 0,60

when I moved near the hardness he had under his jeans.

“Cody,” I whispered.

“Fuck,” he replied, and then I melted against him when he kissed me harder, hotter, and licked over my top lip. I responded by opening my mouth under his. I gripped him tighter against me when the kiss turned up a notch. Our tongues tangled, our mouths moved, our bodies rubbed, and I couldn’t get enough.

Even though I’d teased, I knew, knew he would deliver me the most perfect kiss I’d ever had.

We broke apart, both breathing heavily. I rested my forehead against his shoulder and hugged him close while he leisurely ran his hands up and down my back.

“Fuck,” he clipped. “We better go before we’re late… or we could cancel and continue this at my house?”

Laughing softly, I shook my head. “I would love to continue—”

He lifted me and placed me back on my seat. “Seat belt,” he ordered, his tone rough, and I liked it a lot.

“But,” I added, resting my hand over his on the steering wheel, “I can’t back out now. It’s too late and would be a bit suspicious.”

“I don’t give a fuck.” He closed his eyes and dropped his head back with a sigh. “But I get it. All right, dinner it is then.”

Smiling, I put my seat belt on and told him, “At least we know we’re compatible in the kissing department.”

“Hell yes we are. Though, I knew we would be, babe.” He continued driving along the deserted and dark area and then turned onto a driveway.

“Were we seriously that close to the house?”

“Yep.”

“And you would have turned back if I’d agreed?”

He smirked. “Fuck yes.”

Laughing, I dropped the mirror down from the sun visor and checked my thoroughly kissed lips. I looked a little dazed and a lot red, but I couldn’t change that now. I just hoped my cheeks would cool enough by the time I got to the front door of the beautiful ranch-style home.

My door opened, and I jumped. “Ready?” Cody asked.

“No… yes… no?”

He chuckled and held out his hand. After undoing my seat belt, I took his offered hand and got out of the car.

“I’ll grab the desserts from the back,” Cody said. He went to the Esky in the back tray of the ute and opened it, grabbing out the two boxes of cookies and mud cake. Maybe I went a bit overboard.

“What’s wrong?” Cody asked. He hooked the boxes under one arm and circled my waist with his other, steering us towards the house.

“I think I made too much,” I told him.

“From the feel of it, yeah.” I slapped his stomach. “But once you see the Marcus men eat, you won’t think it then.”

At the door, I fought for control of my stomach and what it contained. I prayed I didn’t throw up in their house.

“Angel, knock for me, then open the door and head in.”

My eyes widened. “I’m not stepping in first,” I whispered in a slightly panicked tone.

Cody grinned. “Why not?”

“I’d feel awkward, especially since no one answered the door. I can’t just make myself at home like that.”

“Babe, how can you head straight into danger but not a house where you’ll be safe?”

“Because” was all I said. I didn’t think when danger happened. I just acted.

“Fuck, you’re cute. All right, I’ve got the door, but you gotta promise you’ll walk in with me?”

“Of course,” I said. Had he known I was on the verge of running into the surrounding bush and hiding for the night?

Snorting, he slid his arm from my waist, and he knocked. Before anyone called out or came to the door, Cody opened it, took my hand, and pulled me through the door.

I froze.

Cody started laughing.

“I’ll get it,” someone called, and I heard footsteps rushing our way from somewhere, but I didn’t dare look away from the scene in front of me.

“Fuck, it’s just you two. Get in here and close the door,” Talon ordered, and he placed the knife he’d been sharpening down on the coffee table and stood. A knife that obviously belonged to a set. A large set of big knives. Ones I saw clearly on the table.

“Oh, hey, Cody. Wait, who’s this?” someone asked, and just as I blinked slowly and turned my attention the young girl’s way, she glanced at her father. “Dad!” she screamed, stomping her foot. “What are you doing? No, just no, go and put them away.”

“What’s goin’ on?” A male version of the young girl stepped into the living
