The Pacific Northwest contemporary house has floor-to-ceiling windows, a large fireplace, a chef’s kitchen, and is over four thousand square feet. I’ve made sure she still has a music room and study nook like before. And we certainly have our own playroom. I bought all new furniture for it, with nothing that could remind her of the night with Danner.
Located on two acres, it’s what Jewel is used to, a little bit of space. It’s not much farther from the club than my Queen Anne condo had been, but it’s farther south. It’s not a worry, not for me, and not if it makes my precious gem happy.
She has a box in her hands, and I swipe it from her quickly. “I had said you could unpack, my stubborn little thing, but you can’t carry a single thing.”

The kidnapping has been classified a class A felony which is punishable by twenty years in prison. The DA is asking for forty years, being he kidnapped the both of us. This doesn’t even touch the attempted rape. He’ll be quite old by the time he sees the light of day.
Our furniture is all new, and the only items we packed were our clothes. It’s made moving easy as most of the new stuff has arrived in stages. She’s not even three months pregnant, and even though she’s just started showing, against her slim waist, she’s already sporting the sexiest baby bump I’ve ever seen.
“Hey, we need a break. Come sit with me,” I command. “You need a break.”
She sits on the couch, and I join her, bringing her a glass of water. Every time she turns around, I’m shoving milk, water, or fresh fruit at her. “You know,” she teases, taking a sip, “there is such a thing as overhydration.” I ignore her, my stern glare telling her to drink more.
She sets it down on the end table, then turns her attention to me. “I need to talk to you.” The expression on her face is all seriousness.
“Anything, precious,” I say.
