in my direction. “Seriously? What have we done?”
“Besides falling in love and bringing two families together?”
His gaze focuses on my lips, and a very familiar warmth fills my blood. We’re insatiable when we’re together, unable to keep our hands to ourselves. It’s always our biggest concern when we go out in public. Getting handsy at the clubhouse isn’t an option, but it doesn’t stop the desire from pooling in my stomach.
“You’ve got to stop looking at me like that,” I warn. “Do you want to end up in the empty bedroom again?”
He nods his head slowly, and the temptation is real.
“Stop.” I swat at him, causing him to laugh.
“You guys are disgusting,” Izzy groans beside us. “Can’t you turn it off even for a few hours?”
I release Colton’s hand to turn my attention to my best friend. She shifts her weight on the sofa, grimacing. It’s clear she isn’t comfortable.
“What’s wrong?” I press my hand to her round belly. “Feeling a little left out?”
“How can I feel left out when I’m right in the middle of your foreplay?”
“Maybe you just need to get laid.”
Her nose scrunches up, and Colton chuckles. He’s long given up telling me to keep my ideas in my head. Training him has been so easy.
“Umm…” She points to her very pregnant belly. “No one wants to touch me.”
“You’d be surprised,” Jasmine interjects. “There are many men attracted to pregnant women.”
“True,” Gigi adds. “There are all types of fetishes out there.”
Izzy looks around the room, and I know she’s checking the location of her dad. He knows she’s pregnant and accepted it long ago, but he’ll never be a man okay with discussing sex so openly with his daughter. Gigi, her stepmother who is only a few years older than her, has no qualms about it.
“I’m uncomfortable,” Apollo says as he stands from the sofa.
“Only because Hound still thinks you’re the one that got her pregnant,” Max teases.
Apollo’s eyes widen as he stares down at Izzy. “I thought you cleared that up.”
I grin as he looks down at her belly before walking away.
“He’d definitely scratch that itch for you,” I murmur.
“Not ever going to happen,” my best friend says, but when her eyes follow him all the way across the room, it makes me wonder if she believes her own words.
“Self-love isn’t bad either,” Gigi says when the group grows silent.
Leave it to her to say something like that.
“My orgasms are always stronger when I’m pregnant.” Gigi presses a soft hand to her tiny bump.
“I’m not discussing this with you,” Izzy snaps with mild disgust. She grunts when she tries to stand up, the roundness of her belly making it hard to gain leverage to get off the couch.
Like the good friend I am, I push on her back to help even though I don’t want her disappearing right now. We both just started our online programs. She’s trying to finish up as many hours as she can before the baby arrives, and I’m in my first semester of graduate school. I spend most of my free time with Colton, and she’s been withdrawing more and more.
I make a mental note to spend more time with her.
“Don’t go,” I whisper, my hand clinging to hers, but all she does is stare down at me like I have two heads.
“I have to pee. Wanna come with me?”
“That’s another popular fetish,” Gigi offers out of nowhere.
Several people chuckle, making Izzy scrunch her nose again. The woman is becoming an expert on the action.
The front door opens before she can walk away, and of course everyone in the room turns their heads.
Lawson walks in beaming, a wide smile on his handsome face. Behind him is Drew, who has been in lock-up for the last couple of months while waiting for things to play out after his arrest. I haven’t had many interactions with the man, but the agitated look on his face as he steps inside is new. From what I remember of him, he was always smiling, always joking. He is the comic relief in contrast to Lawson who tends to be the more serious brother.
“That’s Drew,” I whisper to Colton who turns his head to look.
We’ve had many conversations about what happened with him, but I had no clue he’d be coming back here. All of his family, other than Lawson, is in New England.
“Oh,” Izzy whispers, and I smile because no matter how sour Drew looks, he’s just as good-looking as his older brother.
Maybe her luck is looking up?
Drew’s eyes dart around the room, taking in the scene like I would expect any trained cop would do, but then his eyes land on Izzy and he freezes. She shifts on her feet when his eyes sweep down the length of her. Tension fills the room when he stares at her belly.
I expect questions. I expect emotions from both of them.
What I don’t expect is for Drew to turn around without a word and walk back out the front door.
