could have a family out there looking for her. I get the feeling I may not. That fact keeps me up at night. It’s up to me to figure out a way out of here. No one’s coming to my rescue.

The door to our room opens and we all stiffen. Four of the men come in. Immediately, I know something has changed. They head straight for one of the new girls and two from the group that came in before Raven and the other new girls.

“Oh, no,” Raven breathes when the last of the guards looks around and his gaze falls on her.

I don’t know why, but I jump to my feet and stand between the two. He narrows his cold eyes on me and storms in our direction. My heart is pounding, but I’m not letting him take one of these girls.

“No,” I yell when he goes to shove me out of the way.

I stand my ground despite him being bigger than me. He growls at me, but he’s not quick to hit me like I’ve seen him do with the other girls. Taking note of this, I quickly take advantage and back up to cover Raven.

“Move, little girl. This is none of your business.”

“Yes, it is. You’re not taking her.”

“Don’t make problem you don’t want,” he says with ice in his voice, his English broken.

“Leave her. She’s not ready to go.” I don’t know what else to say. All I know is I have to protect these two. They are just girls. I may not remember my age, but I know I’m older than them both.

“Take me,” I blurt the words out before I can think.

He rolls his eyes over me. I straighten my shoulders and lift my chin. Do I want to be sold or in one of those rooms with the crying girls and lines of men? No, but I can feel it in my bones that I can’t allow them to take these two.

He snorts, reaching out to touch my loose hair. He goes from caressing it to grabbing a handful and tugging my head to the side. Leaning down, we come face to face as he seethes.

“I would love to take you, but we are not allowed to touch you. Don’t make problem for me. I can’t sell you, but I can make life miserable.”

With that, he tosses me to the bed. He glares at Raven, looking her over. When his gaze lands on her eye, he frowns.

Waving a hand, he turns his back. “She is damaged now. Keep her this time.”

I breathe a deep sigh of relief at his words. Raven and Natasha both throw themselves around me. However, the victory is short-lived.

When the asshole says something in Russian, Natasha stiffens. The word no whimpers from her mouth. My stomach sinks as one of the other men tosses the girl in his hold to the guy that was coming for Raven.

He’s bigger, much bigger than me. When he reaches us, he grabs me and tosses me over his shoulder. I try to kick and scream but it’s futile.

The one I assume is the leader snarls at me in his broken English. “There are ways to break you without touching you, da. Let me prove.”

John

I’ve put this off for a little more than two months. Hoping that Missy would pull it together in that time and we’d have the talk. That hasn’t happened and then, the guilt starts in.

“That was so nice,” Missy chirps from the passenger seat.

I tighten my hands on the steering wheel. I’m conflicted. I feel like I’ve spent the evening lying to my family. They saw right through me.

I’m surprised my mother didn’t call me on my shit. I noticed the look she gave me. I think I held my breath the entire night waiting for her to lay into my ass.

Still, this is the happiest I’ve seen Missy since she lost the baby. She has a sparkle in her eyes, and she looks better. She looks more like the fresh-faced girl I met that first night.

“Nothing out of the norm,” I reply.

It wasn’t. Despite getting looks from everyone for bringing Missy home and introducing her as my girlfriend it was the Blacks as usual—boy, did I get looks. Everyone and I do mean everyone in my family knows about my lifestyle.

My mother gives me shit about it all the time. Not in front of everyone, but when she gets me alone, she definitely ribs me about it. I’m her
