Aaric stands me up on my bare feet, naked, in the middle of these woods next to his horse while he fiddles around in some bag. I look around, trying to take in my surroundings, but everything is dark.
Wrapping my arms around my breasts, I wonder if he’s going to force me to walk around his camp, naked. Suddenly, the sexiness from just a few moments ago doesn’t seem so sexy anymore.
Looking down at my mud-caked feet, I can’t help but wonder what is going to happen next? Will I wake up from this, whatever the fuck this is, wherever I am? If I didn’t feel as good, as alive, as I did when Aaric was inside of me, I could swear that this is all a complete dream.
“Liv,” he grunts, the way he says my name, deep and rumbly, his accent so thick and sexy, I can’t help the goosebumps that appear, again.
Lifting my head, I blink at the sight of him. He’s standing in front of me, holding out a fur. It’s not a coat, there aren’t any armholes or anything. It looks like a fur straight from an animal’s body.
I shiver, totally disgusted by the idea of wearing a fur in general, let alone one that hasn’t been treated in a factory or anything.
“Aaric,” I whisper.
He shakes his head once, saying some words that I do not understand in the slightest. I do catch one word, skinn. Trying not to gag, skin is freaking right, I take a step toward him. He doesn’t move, so I’m forced to take another step and another until I’m directly in front of him, almost touching his, skinn.
He motions with his chin, jerking it up and to the side. I assume that he wants me to turn around, so I do. My back faces him and I feel him wrap his arms around my body. It’s warm, or maybe that’s his body wrapped around mine. When his lips touch the side of my cheek, I suck in a breath, sinking my teeth into my bottom lip.
“Aaric,” I breathe.
“Minn dróttning,” he growls against my cheek.
I don’t understand the second word that he says, but boy do I understand minn, and that terrifies me. Maybe once I go to sleep and wake up tomorrow, it will all be over and I’ll realize that this was all some really freaky and realistic dream?
