Breaking Bro Code (The Line Up #4) - Misti Murphy Page 0,48
But she makes pursuing her feel not only possible but right.
Gripping her wrist, I suck the tips of her fingers between my lips and kiss them as I back her up to the pool wall. “I want you so much. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since the night you kissed me. About how much I wanted to throw caution to the wind and kiss you back. And those pictures… they’re stuck in my head.”
“Hairy Walt’s too,” she says.
“Let’s not talk about him right now.” I can’t have him in my head. Can’t be wanting to beat the images of her out of that guy’s brain. I steal a kiss. “You have no idea how many times I’ve fantasized about you and me.”
“You have?” She glosses her lips with the tip of her tongue. Curiosity is etched in the cute lines that crinkle around her green orbs. Hope glows in them.
I know that’s what it is, because I feel it. And I haven’t felt anything like it in so long. I didn’t think I ever would again.
Her legs are wrapped around my hips, her ankles hooked together behind my waist.
I squeeze her ass through the thin cotton of her pajama shorts with both hands. Damn, I’ve wanted to do that for so long. “Even before.”
“Before?” She raises an eyebrow at the new knowledge. “How long exactly are we talking about?”
“Since you came home from college,” I confess.
“Damn,” she whispers. “That’s years.”
“Yeah.” I rest my forehead against hers, our slick bodies glued to each other in the dimly lit water. It’s almost as though I can’t catch my breath now that we’re racing along this track. It wasn’t a possibility. It shouldn’t be one now. Admitting that I’ve wanted her still feels taboo.
“I didn’t know,” she says.
“I didn’t want to be attracted to you. I certainly didn’t want you to know that I was drawn to you.” I brush my lips along her jaw. Taste her pulse point. Inhale her scent. “I had you in a box and that was all there was to it. Figured it would fade if I ignored you. It was better that way. Smarter. Easier.”
I’m rewarded with a soft moan as my mouth works along her neck. “Because of Hud.”
“That’s one reason,” I admit.
“A bad one,” she says bringing her mouth temptingly back to within an inch of mine.
It’s not the only reason. What if things get complicated between us? What if I hurt her? I’m not a relationship guy. I don’t know how to be without it all falling apart. But pretending that I’m not into her is so beyond my ability.
Capturing her bottom lip, I suck it between my teeth. I have no clue what I’m doing. I mean I know what I’m doing. Screwing up. All I can seem to come up with is, it’s worth it. Lily is worth the risk. What I don’t know is how to be with her. This is new territory. I’m out of my element. But I can’t get enough of her soft, sweet mouth.
I linger over it. Kiss her like we’re kids and this is the first time and I’ve only just worked out exactly how fucking good it can be to slip in a little bit of tongue. Taste her whimpers. Commit them to memory like all the colors in a packet of Skittles. And just like with Skittles I know I’ll never be able to pick a favorite. I relish the weight of her ass in both hands, light and solid and so real.
“Vale?” She twines her arms tighter around my neck as she pulls back so our gazes lock.
“Yeah, Lil?” Fuck, she has such pretty eyes. So green, her pupils dilated with need. Just looking at her makes it hard to breathe. She fills my lungs until they don’t seem to fit inside my chest anymore.
She licks her swollen lips. “I want more…”
“How much more?” She could ask for the world and I’d want to give it to her. If I had it to give.
She clears her throat. Her gaze falls somewhere over my shoulder.
I ease it back to me with the crook of my finger to her chin. “What do you want, Lil? Because I don’t know what I’m doing right now. I need you to help a guy out.”
“I’m not a virgin,” she says. “I wanted to put that out there. In case you had a notion.”
