to the counter. “We’ll take it all,” I said to Camara.

She smiled. “Yes, sir. I’ve got the tags for the last two items as well.”

I nodded. Thank the stars.

After thirty minutes of tags, folding, and stuffing, everything was paid for. Now if Hollyn would come out of the fitting rooms, we could go home and pick up where we’d left off.

I looked at my watch. Felt my brow furrow. “Can you go check that she’s all right, please?” I asked Camara.

She smiled and nodded.

She was back within moments. “She’s gone, Mr. Ladon. This was left on the settee.” She handed me a note.

“Should have been more careful with your toys, Tagan. You’ll get her back when Thane carries out his end of the bargain.” It was signed with the initials AMC.

Fuck.

Chapter 34 – Toven

“Just fix it, Jameson,” I said. The idiot needed to be moved to a different section if he couldn’t figure out the simplest of routine fixes. I walked back to my office and pulled up the encrypted file I had started at home.

We needed more information. At least we finally knew who the master was. I could start doing a deep dive on him. But it was going to be very tricky. The man was richer than Midas and he had his own computer team protecting his data from here to eternity.

It wouldn’t matter. Not in the grand scheme of things. He’d hurt my Hollyn, and that shit wasn’t going to stand.

I set up another autotask to mine for data between the Walsh, Kavanaugh, and Cananach names. Then another with all of those and the Christiansens. The fact that Ainsley was involved in this mess should have come as a shock. But when I thought about it, I could see the calculation and predatory look in her gaze too often.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she knew we had magical blood in our family either. Some people thought magic equaled power. And while in the super old school days, it might have. Right now, it just meant we had some weird genetics.

Luckily, I’d only had a couple of odd stares from people about my new eye color after the weekend of getting juiced by Hols. I’d need to buy some colored contacts though, just to keep everything on the DL. Which reminded me. I picked up my phone and dialed our ophthalmologist. I needed to know if the increase in visual acuity was going to be sticking around or not.

My phone rang before I could pull up the contacts. Tag. The lucky bastard.

“Having fun shopping?” I asked. I would’ve given my left nut to traipse around the stores with Hols. Having her personally model all the clothes for me.

“I need a trace. Fast. Ainsley took her,” he barked out.

“Fuck.” I spun in my chair to the bank of computers at my back. “Which tracker?”

“N24IS23LD92. Hurry up. I’m only a few minutes behind I think.”

“What the fuck happened, Tag?” I asked as my fingers flew over the keys. “She was supposed to be safe with you.” I tried to hold back the bitterness, the accusations.

“Don’t you think I fucking know that? Ainsley must have someone watching us. Or she’s tracking us separately. I have no fucking idea. There was no one around the VIP seating area. Only the personal shopper and she was with me doing checkout the whole time. Give me a location, Tove.” He swallowed, the sound loud even through the phone. “I’m dying.”

I gritted my teeth. My battle-hardened brother sounded like he was on the verge of tears. They would pay for this as well. “It’s triangulating. Five seconds.” They passed like years. Finally. A ding. “She’s at Hudson and Second. Traveling fast, probably in a car. I’ll calibrate for accuracy now that I’ve got her on screen.”

“I want everything you can find on Ainsley and her fucking family, Toven. Every single piece of anything that we can use. The note said we’d get our girl back after Thane fulfilled his part of the ‘bargain.’”

I bit back the cursing that solved nothing and would only bring more scrutiny. “On it. I’ll stay here and work on that. You get to call Thane.” I pulled up another screen. “His schedule says he’s free right now, but he’s got the merger talks in less than two hours.”

“On it. Keep an eye on her, Tove.” He hung up before I could say anything.

“Damn fucking straight, I will.” I set up local alerts on the tracking software and dove headfirst
