me, if that’s what you did do, though.”

She turned back to the cop. “If you find him, and I need to apologize, will you come find me?”

I chuckled. “You’ll learn to believe me, Stretch. At some point, you’ll learn to believe me.”

“I’m not going to have him think I’m rude, T—”

I squeezed her hand twice.

“–Thane.” She shook her head again.

I squeezed her hand once. “Be that as it may, you still don’t need to apologize.” I turned to the cop. “Could I get another card from you? I misplaced the one from earlier.” I gave him an aww-shucks smile.

He narrowed his eyes as he studied both of us. “Sure.” He dragged the word out slightly as he dug in one of his ten million pockets. “If it’s okay with you, I’ll drop by at your house, Mr. Ladon. Is Ms. Doe still staying with you?”

I nodded as I accepted the card he extended. “Yes. Until she remembers who she is, I’ll be providing her a safe place to live and recover as the doctor orders.”

Officer Braden nodded, flipped his little notebook shut with a glare and turned on his heel. His shoes squeaked slightly on the linoleum floors.

All clear, I reached out to Thane.

On my way. And we need to book it. That nurse apparently took out a freaking news bulletin and announced it to the entire department, Thane replied.

“Shit. Come on, Hols. Up and at ‘em, Adam Ant. Thane says we’ve got trouble.” I pulled the blanket and sheets back.

Her long legs drew my gaze. The sexiest shade of tan in the universe. Just a hint of sun tinted her skin. It was more honied cream than brown. I was pretty sure it was going to become my new favorite color. Either that or all shades of purple.

“Toven? Are you in there?” She waved her hand in front of my face. “You’re staring at my legs. You seem to stare at me quite a lot. Are you okay?”

I smiled even as heat touched my cheeks. “I don’t know what it is about you, babe. But everything about you pulls at me like I’m steel shavings and you’re the freaking magnet. This has never happened to me in my entire life. I’m blaming you.”

She spluttered a laugh. “How can you possibly blame me for that?” She shook her head. “Nope. I’m blaming you. You and your brothers.” She shot me a triumphant smile. “I remembered!” She pumped her hands in the air as she wiggled her hips.

I laughed. I wasn’t quite sure why, but I did. Everything was lighter and brighter around her. I was going to keep her.

“Oh eternal stars, we need to get you a bra, Stretch. There’s only so much wiggling and jiggling I can stand,” Thane said with a groan as he rushed into the room. “Here. Change into these. Quick. We’ve got to move.”

Hollyn leapt from the bed, grabbed up the clothes and stripped off her hospital gown in one swift movement.

Thane’s slap over the back of my head had me closing my mouth and turning around, giving our girl at least a shred of privacy.

Mind out of her pussy, man, come on, he said.

I’m fucking trying. Have you seen her? Heard her? She’s the fucking light and I’m a lowly moth.

His mental chuckle filtered through my brain. Damn right she is.

“All covered,” Hollyn said, her tone sad. “Do you guys really have to wear clothes all the time?”

I almost swallowed my tongue at her question. I shook my head.

Thane, the bastard, nodded. “Yeah, Stretch. Unless we’re at home, you have to be wearing clothes. You can get in a lot of trouble if you go outside naked.”

Well, damn it. That was true. I think I should work from home from now on. You know…personal security and all that.

Thane snorted. “Not even close,” he answered out loud.

Hollyn startled. “Huh?” She looked behind herself to see if anyone was there. She turned back to Thane. “I’m not close to anything, you’re correct.” She gave him a huge smile like a kindly teacher helped the idiot who couldn’t bother to pay attention.

Thane laughed. “I was talking to Tove.” He reached out, grabbed her hand. “Come on. Time to go home and find some damn answers.”

Chapter 14 – Hollyn

We stood across the street from the hospital waiting for a car that Thane’s assistant was bringing by. The mad dash through the emergency room had been interesting. Thane and Tove growled at everyone who tried to talk to me
