Alien Freak - Calista Skye Page 0,18

bad news. “Fate, no! I mean, that’s enough for now. If you find any information about how to survive this, then do let me know.”

“The only known way to survive planet Brems is to not go there. Sorry, grandson. There’s just no good way to put it.”

I look down on Averie. Even in this critical situation, she entices me. That luxurious roundness, that smooth skin, that vulnerability – it’s like she’s saying ‘breed me’ with every breath.

If we’re going to die anyway, then I might as well get some pleasure before that. And breeding Averie would plainly be extremely pleasant.

I take a step closer and squat down, reaching one hand out to stroke her cheek.

She pulls away, skittish as prey pup, her eyes big.

The pressure in my crotch reaches new heights.

But when I reach out to grab her, my hand stops in the air.

What?!

No, this is ridiculous. She’s mine. I caught her. And now she is mine to do with as I please, as is always the case. Any male can take any female he possesses, breed her at will.

At any time. It has always been that way!

And here I am, wanting this female more than I’ve ever wanted any, and I hesitate because I don’t think she wants it! The insanity!

Oh, I know some old friends who would have mocked me mercilessly for that kind of behavior. Not breeding a female because she doesn’t want it. I would never live it down.

No, those friends would just be puzzled. It’s too weird. They would think I was crazy and they would distance themselves from me.

My tongue shoots out by itself, tasting the air close to her. And again I almost pass out from the sensory onslaught. She’s a perfect breeder for me.

Except for that one thing. That forbidding note on her scent. That feeling of not yet it gives me. And that’s all it takes to stop me from mating with her.

Because she doesn’t want it yet.

Then, to my astonishment, Averie reaches out with one small hand and lightly touches my face. “You’re very swollen, Zaroc. Do you have some kind of a medical kit?”

I let her cool fingers rest on my skin for a moment. It feels remarkably good, and for a short heartbeat I forget about the desperate situation I’m in.

“It will be fine,” I grunt and withdraw. “We have bigger problems than that.”

Averie gets to her feet. “Is the ship broken?”

I survey the instruments. They’re not completely dead. There is life in some of the equipment. “It is.”

“But we survived the landing.”

“We survived the landing. We maybe not survive the planet.”

She peers out the windshield at the greenery. “Is it dangerous? No air?”

I start to take stock of the various broken systems. Flight controls are obviously dead. Life support appears to be working. Propulsion is showing a lot of warning lights. “There is air. There also is much else. The less we go out, the better.”

She goes all the way up to the windshield and puts her face close to it. “Can we stay in here? Maybe there are people here, someone who will help— aiiieee!” She recoils from the glass so hard she falls onto her rear on the deck.

Outside the windshield, a large, round tentacle has appeared. It ends in a circular mouth rimmed with pointy, triangular black teeth. As I watch, it hits the windshield with a soft bonk and attaches itself with its thin, green lips, sucking itself close. It’s joined by another and another until the windshield is all alien sucking mouths.

“Disgusting,” I state. “But safely on outside.”

Averie picks herself up from the floor. “Are… are those the aliens here?”

I keep scanning the instruments for things that still work. It’s a short list, but it has a couple of lucky entries. Weapons systems appear to be fine, for instance. “It looks that way.”

“Can… can we leave the planet?”

Looks like the hyperdrive is online. We’d need to get out into space to use it, of course. “Not now. Maybe never.”

“But you can fix the ship?”

Inertial dampening took a hit, but the capacitors are recharging. Which also means that the energy systems are basically fine. “I don’t know.”

Averie stares at the sucking mouths outside and draws a little closer to me.

Her scent distracts me from my work.

“I go to Engineering section,” I announce.

“Can I come?”

I sigh. She will definitely distract me there, too. But her presence is soothing, somehow. “I suppose.”

I make my way down there, with Averie in tow. The elevator works, and
